am i the only person who wonders what the point is in fitting a high revving kit designed to run with an expansion exhaust and then sticking an old fashioned box exhaust on it when there is lots of low revving performance kits out there that will quite happily perform well with a decent clubman?

if we didn't try these sort of things out then we could never compare; I ran one on a box pipe it was ok; power was good but not as good as an expansion chamber; genuine 70 on a 44mm pipe and 30 Amal.

Nope. But on the other hand, maybe people have tried a few of the other kits, and found them to be pieces of sh it, poorly made, and requiring hundreds of pounds worth of time spending on them to make them work properly.
Cheaper to buy a TS kit.
Not all clubmans are low revving. Mine is going to be built with my RS clubman on it. I don't expect it to be a rev monster. But I do expect it'll sit at 75/80mph all day, pulling 4.6 (or higher) gearing, two up. It might well go faster with an expansion pipe on it. But then it wouldn't sound like a Lambretta, it'd sound like a crosser stuck in second gear.

p.s i dont have an expansion pipe on my scooter, just that if i spent that sort of money on a reedvalve high revving kit i would fit an expansion pipe. why not try an avanti kit they have been mainly tested with a 48mm box pipe havent they?

When I bought mine, there was no such thing. When I got mine, the option was either an iron barrel (which would have taken over a week to port properly), conical rapidos and maybe a few other none starters.

A mate in our club used a 48mm ad Bigbore on his TS and he said it was waste of time and money.Better boxes out there if you wanna use on a TS.

He starts with a 48mm Clubman , with its slightly wider diameter tailpipe, and fabricates a stepped header (as he believes that 48mm wide exhaust flange is too wide) so that the downpipe slowly expands in diameter , bit like an expansion until it meets the main box.
