Been in me garage again ,I've been set the task of extending a model D frame by 50mm to be made into a race replica ,so here are some pics of it if anyone is interested.
I had to borrow this straight frame to make some brackets up for my jig ,when this was done I then set about modifying the other frame so here goes with some other pics
Apparently the model D will handle a lot better with a longer wheel base so I'm told :wtf: ,we will just have to wait and see,I just do as I'm told well usually
nice jig, and good preperation etc, however just to add my opinion, that slug in the frame, Im assuming is tube, but deffo isnt long enough as far as Im concerned, should be supporting the tube further in.
I would personally want to see on my own builds, frame slugs in tube, ideally the same wall thickness as the frame tube, but the slugs to extend into the frame by about 2 x od
especially with an open top frame like that, the lack of top tube putting so much importance on that tube
heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it does fail, hit them with it!!!
