T5 HEAT SEIZED
hi all, auto lube packed up, scoot heat seized and now i'm wondering what to do ? i've heard the barrels can be bored out and relined. where ? how much ? is it worth doing ? or is it just easier to go for a malossi 172 kit ? anyone got one at all ?

If the oil packed up then that wasn't strictly a heat sieze and depending on how long it ran before the piston siezed, you may have damaged the bearings on the crank. The barrel is nicasyl lined so it MIGHT clean up with some wet & dry.

hi m8,
i would take the head and barrel off to see the damage you might get away with new rings and a clean up of the barrel with some wet and dry.i nipped my t5 up its a polini 171 i was lucky a quick clean up of the barrel and piston rings.if you do decide to change barrels etc as well as the mallossi there is other kits you can fit best of luck

Do you know why your oil pump failed ? I wonder was there alot of play in your main bearing and did it cause the pump cog to have an issue ? The other thing about a worn main bearing is that it can damage the oil seal on the clutch side and make it go walkabout . If your fan has alot of movement when you pull the clutch lever , then I'd change the main bearings before doing anything else .
