Hello again folks.
In relation to my other problems which i have posted on here, now i've sheared the woodruff key :shocking:
The offending article has come out ok but i got an odd sound, a bit like a backfire and some smoke coming from the air filter and carb!!
The engine wasn't actually running but should i be worried??
Thanks again.

Muffster.

Although I can't see how you can get a puff of smoke through the carb and a backfire if the engine wasn't running :!:  Yes, it's not uncommon for such to happen when the woodruff key goes AWOL. Whip the flywheel off and check the taper is in good nick. New woodruff key, double check timing and off you go.

And make sure that you torque your flywheel up to the correct setting. A slack flywheel is usually the cause of a sheared woodruff key.

Yep.
I've learnt my lesson now on that one.
All sorted.. and torqued up.
Cheers.
