A harder shock wont change the ground clearance problems, will it? Just make your ride harder.

I had one on mine for a while. R1 shock, reasonably hard. Even one up, it touched down both sides with ease, and it's got a dink in the bottom from a sleeping policeman at the petrol station (going dead slow).
I'm not a fat oik, and I don't ride it like a motorbike.
I put my RS Clubman back on, lost a little bit of the whizz through the revs, but it's equally as fast top end and hasn't hit the floor at all - even two up.

I love my JL4 but they can be a labour of love. Even if I see a speed bump I slow down to a crawl or get off if possible. Mine grounds out getting up the hydraulic ramp. Tight right handers wear away metal too. Last time I took mine off to replace a knackered exhaust gasket I noticed a hairline crack in the usual place. My first attempts at a weld repair resulted in a hole the size pea.
All blobbed on and secure now

Did you speak too soon?eden wrote:I disagree, I have my Bitubo set quite hard and ive only ground my JL4 once, but that was on a ferry ramp.

Mind you, I think this is where the Franspeed Race comes into its own.

This was always a problem with this exhaust as it was never originally intended to be a road pipe.
Does the Franspeed Race address this problem, i.e. does it have better ground clearance?

Yes Apparently it does, but also has a wider spread of power.GP Kevo wrote:This was always a problem with this exhaust as it was never originally intended to be a road pipe.

Funnily enough just fitted the race pipe , what a difference and very little loss in low down torque and rev on has changed my ts for the better over the franspeed3 i had on previous. Mind you while i built a tourer type ts in the beginning stumps me cause i like to thrash the feckerlsoulsurfer wrote:Yes Apparently it does, but also has a wider spread of power.GP Kevo wrote:This was always a problem with this exhaust as it was never originally intended to be a road pipe.

Ground clearance is excellent compared to the jl4.
I have the same problem with my JL3,when two up it grounds out on the smallest of bumps. Having said that when I`m two up with my son on the back and camping gear for the weekend it`s carrying 35stone! Oh and its a cast iron 150 barrel.
