I have replaced the headlight bulb on my Varitronic kitted SX200 four times now. Both filaments have gone every time, and the speedo bulb went as well the last time.

The only thing I can think of is that the regulator is pushing out too many volts, I've got another one so I can substitute it but before I start unpicking the wiring I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem and has a different answer.

Cheers.

A volt meter will give you the answer sounds like you are putting out unregulated voltage if its much over 13-14V. I presume its wired correctly

I had the same problem, turned out to be the regulator. The only fault i've had with my Vario in 5-6 years

All sorted this afternoon.

The regulator was the culprit, it was pushing out 18 - 20 volts. Changed for a new one and all's fine.

Cheers.
