Was having problems starting a new Imola fitted with a newish 30 PWK carb, i noticed the plug was dry so reckoned it was not getting any fuel, tried a 24mm PWK carb i had and it started first kick.

So took the 30mm off and checked the float seemed fine put it back together and tried it, it started but began p1551ing petrol out the over flow in the float bowl.

The bowl was a pain to fit there is a over flow pipe that seems to fowl on the floats when fitting it, is this my problem is it preventing the floats from opening and closing as required.

Sorry if i have not explained this correctly but it seems the needle is either stuck open or stuck closed.

Any help appreciated.

As you've identified, you have to be careful not to disturb the floats on the brass tube, when you put the float chamber back on. There is a knack. Do not force it.

Sounds to me like you've bent the tab on the float that engages the hook on the float needle itself. You can carefully bend this back to make sure your floats are level, set at about 21mm, and the needle is sealing ok. You need to have the carb off the scoot to sort this ;)
