When I was racing in the late 80s, we machined a Villiers blank for the head on my Group 5 and I'm sure a lot of the shops were such as MSC, Chiselspeed, Kegra and Taffspeed.

It might be worth asking Martin (Chis), Keith Terry or Ian (Taff).

The MB ones are neither, they're a re-cast Kwaka KE175 ;)

Yes,... I could do I suppose.......[/quote]

OK, then please let us know what head you use. Is it an MB one, too ?

Started off as an MB Blank. then machined by Chalkies to suit.

Yes I have a picture of it.. No it won't be on here

regarding scoops and head temps and stuff....

I have some data logging on the sprinter, including 2 simple temp sensors, 1 under plug, 1 stuck on exhaust manifold.
I have a standard set up, cowls, AF flywheel with fan etc
.
Here are some things I've seen.
1) Airflow at speed over the exhaust has a big effect at reducing exhaust temp, so I would have thought a scoop would really help.
2) head temps continue to rise to their highest point a few minutes AFTER you turn the engine off !
3) stuff takes a 'long long' time to cool down
standing mile: 118.6mph
1/4 mile: 14.04 seconds - 93mph

Wilf.....out of interest, what sort of cylinder head temps are you seeing (low, high, average etc)?

Are you air cooled or fan/cowl?

Also, have you played weith ign timing to see variences in temps? We get some good reductions in heat with minimal power losses by using the mtechs to come back to around 12degress at peak revs (depending on engine spec and tune etc - each one is different).
