Hi all , just finishing a scoot build for a mate and well on the way to it up and running .

only thing is came up against a problem that I've not had before ? at the point of fitting the gear cables , nice new trunions . cables in the right position for 1st -4th gear but when I have the rear wheel off the ground on the lift , spin it and select the gears with the selector arm and can only find 2nd and 3rd ?????

The arm will not move forward to first or far enough back for fourth , puzzled .com here . Set gears up before on my own finding 4th with the selector and fitting the cables so then when out on the road can just adjust them a little so the handle bar gear change works ok . Understand that when the cables are in the wrong way often can only get first three gears but with this one it will just not move far enough forward or back to get 4th and first respectively .

Maybe being a little stupid but all help totally appreciated .

My mate wants to sell it when I've finished it so will post up some stunning pics when I'm done ....................

Engine pivot pin for gear selection on wrong way around that can stop it selecting gear; and a ten mill head bolt used in the selector arm instead of the original nine mill; as it can catch on the casing that might also stop it selecting gear,

still a muppet
C’est la vie

Cheers for that ... I have taken the pivot arm off and looked at every which way possible to fit it ? it was right in the first place so not that .

I suppose I'll have to delve into the depth's of the gearbox ...... ah well ..

I didn't assemble the gearbox so could be a number of options there, loose gears placed in wrong way as another friend said ? wrong bolt as mentioned by yourself and even just not getting the selctor in the correct position when second is selected .

will post when sorted .... could be a long one , but I bet it it's a daft simple reason in the end ..

cheers
