Some good advice there thanks, original rings Donny and i'm not certain the head has ever been tightened...
.......so probably a strip down over winter and a trip to see the Englishman (local engineer and top tuner).......would a differant exhaust make any differance? Bigger carb i'm thinking less mpg.....

Not true at all.. IF it's set up properly. A poorly set up, worn out, carb is always going to return poorer economy than a new, well set up, one.Timbo wrote: Bigger carb i'm thinking fewer mpg.....

I think you're jumping the gun really.
You need to pop off the cylinder and check the rings for wear first, this could be why you think you're performance ain't as good as you think it should be, so personally I wouldn't be considering anything until you've done this.

Agreed, for Kelso 2010 I was on my S2 muggy with a JL3 and a 30PHBH, one of the other lads was on his S2 with a muggy, AF clubby and 25PHBL.Muttley McLadd wrote:Not true at all.. Every petrol stop I was using about half a litre LESS than him and Im at least a stone heavier plus had more gear with me!
The only other difference is I have an LI150 gearbox (16/46 sprockets) and he has GP200 with 19/46 sprockets.

Sure thing, when i invested in a new 28 a few years ago and got it dynod, could believe how good the fuel consumption was and still is.Bin the standard carb,i used to run 22mm on my 185 and then a 25mm all through the airbox to keep standard. Then i went to a 30mm and asked myself why i ever bothered with all the others before.Muttley McLadd wrote:Not true at all.. And drop it off at the Master Tuner's on the way? You'd need an appointment..Train Driver wrote:Get your man to take the top end off and it can come on our day trip to Master tuner marks open day, september 11th

With friends like these you won't have to make an appointment
