sx200 rear light problem

hi i noticed last week while out on scooter that my tail light was not working, but my brake light was ok....inspected bulb, and filiment was broke on tail light section(,replaced bulb and now tail light working ,but when brake pedal pressed it does not work, and headlamp etc goes off until pedal depressed.....the only thing i have done to my scooter is replaced rear brake cable, so wondering if i have caught a wire....(running 12v electonic ac ) any ideas on the problem, thanks....

something's shorting out
check wires to rear lamp and connections
and check brake light switch

cheers byron, you were right, it was a nipped wire next to rear lamp housing....thanks for your help...
