I'm thinking of getting a kit for my GP150 and I see that I can fit an RB20 kit or a Monza 186 kit.

Which is best and why?

Cheers :)

didn't know there were any other choices.

What are the options for small block lambretta engines?

175 kit
imola
casa
RT
GT
Cheap alloy kits of ebay
muggello
Prob more but these are just of top of my head.

To know what Kit to choose can be a minefield firstly ask yourselve what you want from your scoot and how much you are willing to spend as cost can seriously spiral. For me when I was looking I ended up buying a 200 casing and using my engine as a donor built a 200 engine. My reasons for doing this were because I enjoy the mechanics and wanted to build the engine and it gives me scope to improve on performance if I want to.

i would recomend an Imola as thats the one i have had. But to be honest i would consider the RB 20 as i have heard good things about them too. I think it would come down to cost between these 2

you could fit a sorted Suzuki 190 kit, using a Suzuki TS185 ERN piston with your choice of suitable barrel and a skimmed reprofiled head, cheap conversion that can give pleanty of speed with cheap rebuilds if needed. as pistons are cheap and pleantyfull usually less than £30 complete with rings.

with all the new kits available, often the oldSkool conversions get overlooked. ;)

its not just a case of just fitting a suzuki piston though is it , I also had one of these back in the 80s and loved it.
I dont know what exactly was done to mine but just knew when that powerband came in i had to hold on tight ,, i also had to remember where my headlight had fallen out or my side pannel or fresco had dropped off ha ha ,,
Come to think of it if i was doing another i would consider a sorted suzi 190 but this time with lots of locktight ha ha

Yes I remember those days as well and to be honest my old 225 suzuki conversion that Kegra did back in the 80's was very quick. But now I'm old so want to be able to cruze on the motorways to rallies.
So a mixture of economey and power is called for from the kit.

So I know what the Monza and RB kits are all about but what about the Casa, RT & GT kits.... I know nothing about theses kits. Can any shed any light as to what they are best suited to and the type of power v's cost aspect?

Just fitted a Casa kit to my Li after looking at the casa or the mugello, running it in but so far so good. Heard lots of positive reports when I got mine, Scootopia have fitted quite a few of these, worth talking to them. From what I was told the Casa offers similar power to the Muggy but most low down.
