Hi all, Am i correct in thinking that the Agusto unit will only work with genuine Ducati cdi units? and are there any fake Ducati cdi units doing the rounds? Thanks for your time Pete

The reason i ask is because i have just changed my cdi unit ( thought is was buggered but it wasn't ) anyway my Agusto unit was working a treat before i swapped the cdi and now it won't work. Then i remembered reading somewhere that they only work with genuine Ducati cdi's. I will put the original cdi back on tomorrow and see what happens.

Ah, now that's a different issue, the question was if the Augusto should work with an Indian CDI not high RPM misfires which SOME indian CDI's are reported to suffer from.

I currently have a black Indian CDI unit which has been on the scoot for around 1,000 miles including 700 on this years Euro Lambretta jaunt. I have also run it with blue Indian CDI (not aware that these are operationaly different) as well as 2 Ducatti units. In all cases it timed up and retarded as it should. I'm not saying that Indian CDI's are as good long term as a Ducatti, just that for £9.99 they usually work fine and you can afford to carry a couple of spares 8-)

I will explain the problem and then maybe someone could point me in the right direction. I set and strobed my ignition at 18 degrees. I then fulled rotated the stator anti clock wise and strobed it again and it was running at 23 / 24 degrees. I then connected the agusto up and strobed it again and it shows it running at 18 degrees all the time and not retarding through the revs as it did before. Any ideas? Cheers Pete.

Sounds to me that the CDI is working perfectly, but as the augusto is fully retarding the trigger pulse all the time, the fault is with that. Is the augusto earthed correctly?

I would of thought so, like I said it was working perfectly before I changed the cdi and I didn't remove it so the earth should still be good. I'm going to change the cdi today to eliminate that. I wil report back.
