Had a ride to Skeggy yesterday and a stuttering problem I have with my TS1 ,which I have always blamed on the TMX35 between 4 -5000 rpm became so bad that the only way to ride it was flat out once I had caned it thru the gears. When I got home I saw thick black gungy oil had blown out of the JL tailcan slip joint onto the kickstart lever and all down the underside of the chamber.I thought B**locks the drive seal has gone but when I took the plug out it was normal.I noticed that the NGK rubber plug cap was a little loose and the screw on cap on the plug was worn even though the plug has only been in for a while so I wondered if that could have caused the problem although the scoot was fine at higher revs. Now I'm wondering if some thing could be wrong with the Varitronic at lower revs and wondered if anyone had experienced similar. The excess oil could be two stroke although it looked just like gear oil.

Could be a blocked or restricted carb circuit. Strip your carb, clean it and see if that cures it.
