Is it possible to fit a Series 3 Ignition switch to a Series 2 headset?
...or is there such a thing as a Series 2 ignition switch?

I'll have no steering lock and I don't like the idea of being able to just ride it off down the ride, a mild deterrent I know :-?

Would it be a straight fit?

Put one in my series 2, only for security and peace of mind, but if someone wants it, it just makes it a bit harder.

Mike,

Am I missing something? what is wrong with keeping the S2 steering lock and adding a S3 ignition key to replace the S2 cut out switch? Series 3 are the same (different key for steering lock and ignition). The same Li headsets used key ignitions on both the S1 and S2 TV series.

Hi Rich, it's a Winter Model headset which has had the steering lock busted off on the inside :-(
Not easy to repair or replace :-?

Hi Mike,

A series 3 will fit you will just have to work out the wiring / key positions to work with the handle bar switch etc. This will mean a couple of wires being commoned together but that is it.

yep, i think the non ignition early s3 headsets may need a small bit dremelling out of a bridge inside to fit the ignition switch but you cant see it from outside anyway.

If ricspeed can sort the ally welding for the steering lock id get it done as my s2 has only a killswitch and steering lock, never going to bother with an ignition switch given that it takes less than 10 seconds to bypass anyway :?

As for wiring if you do go ahead, you need to identify the on off and wire that in and ignore all the rest, that way you don't need to worry about the light switch positions as you are literally only using it as an on off just like the killswitch.

Like Soulsurfer I've got a Spanish S2. I'm not sure if it has been modified at some point because I have what looks like a key operated ignition switch. I've not got around to doing anything with it as yet but it's on and off basically.
