I've got an old 20mm carb body which has been hammered on at some point, flattening the spout which projects into the rubber elbow. I could have cleaned it up to a degree but in actual fact I chopped it off flush with the body in the same way as the larger 22mm is. What I would like to know now is what this spout does, apart from the obvious, and what the effect will be of my modification? The way I look at it it's a restriction possibly to make it richer or something. It's most prominent on the smaller 18mm carbs. Less so on the 20, and even lesser so on mine.

Here you go. Exhibit A: Two unrelated carb bodies. Both Spanish 20mm carbs. The one on the left is the same as the one I modified. Even here you can see there are two different standard lengths to what I call the spout.

Exhibit B: The modified article. It was too bashed up to faff about with. I'd be interested to know how it will effect its performance.

It now looks like a lambro carb,I used one and it worked fine. When you connect your air hose just make sure the carb and hose are bone dry so that when you do the jubilee clip up it has something to hold on to.
That just my opinion though :wtf:

Not to worry Ove. I've only taken it down so that it's flush with the collar. The lip is still there to secure the air hose. My thinking was that by running it I might have altered the mixture. But then I suppose you would soon tell by your usual means. Be interesting to know though.
