I may get my hands on a LI125 engine to rebuild... But i rekon it will be painfully slow to use as a rally going bike. So i am thinking it might be best to tune it up a little, by adding a bolt on kit and exhaust and other bits n bobs (but nothing ground braking). I was looking at Imola kits and they seem to put out some decent figures. So i was wondered if any one could suggest any other kits or what works we'll with the imola kit. I'd want something that will be faster than my T5, nippy round town and would hit around 75mph without sounding like it will blowup!

cheers.

I have got a Imola Kit ,28mm phbh carb, Jl2 exhaust.Great scooter to ride when on
my own or with someone with a similar set up & rides the same.Been on a few rallys with it &
seemed to spend more time in 3rd gear when with a few of us. I dont know if having a clubman on would change were the power is :?:
You might be better of with a Mugello kit. never heard to many bad reports about them.

...200cc {66mm} mugello 60mm crank,variatronic,ancillotti,30mm dello'....some experimenting with read valves & powerjets ongoing but standard bolt on stuff seems to be very reliable, useable & economic....

No, TBH that sound like Ron Moss territory to me, but that's large block.

Yes, in theory. The Imola will rev well above that but won't do it with 4.8. Mine wouldn't pull 5.0 half the time with a JL3.

So is 75mph a bit unreachable with the smaller engine casing? On the cambridge lambretta site they seem to quote 75plus?

I wouldn't want to sit at that kind of speed, it would be nice to know it could do that if i need to overtake etc etc.

So the three main kits for the smaller engine casing seem to be the RB20, Mugello and Imola. Would any one be so kind to knock up a little pros and cons for the kit, for a lammy noob!

cheers for the help so far

It also depends on how much money your willing to throw at it. Building a RB20 you need very deep pockets.
In the first 500 miles it found every weak link in the engine. I also seem to spend a lot more time in the petrol station :D
Very noisey & leaves a trail of oil every were .
To be honest i love it :D ;)

It can be done,i ran 4.8 in my 185 kit and on a good run (not just nipping to the shops) it could hit that.Good bit of port work and the right pipe.Mine was a Suzi kit but you could get an iron barrel and im sure an you can get a 64/65 RT piston now.I ran a 30mm dellorto and an RS44mm bigbore.
