Evening all
My engine is completely stripped -- just assembling last few bits before commencing rebuild.
I came across an article on LCGB site suggesting that if using the studs (instead of replacing with bolts) they should always be removed and checked and thoroughy cleaned.
The studs in my casing look sound and feel solid in the casing, all looks good. I would have thought that disturbing them just runs the risk creating unnecessary damage to the threads. However, I'm planning to use a little loctite 290, which is high strength penetrating thread locker for already assembled joints, as a bit of belt and braces.
What do you think, I really don't see the need to take them out just for an inspection as they appear to be just fine.
Cheers, Mark.

If the other studs and threads were all good I would be inclined to leave them, but if work was required elsewhere then I would check them and replace
