Hi,250 float needle sounds about right, sounds a little rich if its spluttering when you open it up ,you will need to do a plug check and see what color the plug is at the point when the bike is playin up,may also be an electrical fault.

if your cylinder is a 200 - 225 you need a 300 float needle jet had same problem, replaced 250 with a 300 and alls well now

300 in both my 30mm dellortos, and a fast flow tap. no bother with fuel flow. had a problem with starting on my old solid mount a couple of years ago, and thought it was the slide etc. changed the float needle/needlejet to a 300, and started first kick, no pinking, didnt flood etc.

Sounds like you need to go back to the stator plate or flywheel area!!!

check the woodruff key for a good fit on the crankshaft.

check the ignition timing with a strobe light 17 degrees is my prefered setting on tuned engines.

check the resistances of the ignition coil and the pick up box.

swap the coil for a known good one and roadtest.

Inpect the flywheel boss to see if its loose.

check the wiring has'nt chaffed inside the stator plate housing.

I've had faulty stator plates before with all the readings fine and only breakdown when the engine is running caused through vibrations.

Let me know how you get on.

Dean.
