MZ head mod

Is anyone using an MZ head mod as some racers do on a road-going scoot? Although im not 100% its MZ heads they use?

they are a recast head based on the mz but produced as a blank and machined to suit ...not checked but i belive mb do them

Cheers ian, doesnt sound to good for a roadgoing scoot, athough if you still used the flywheel to cool the barrel only would that solve the problem of overheating in traffic or similar?

You could do that but you'd need a partial head cowl of some sort to flow the air.

Thats what i was thinking a cowelling that sits against the back of the head where its oversized, drawing the air in as per the normal way via the flywheel with an exit hole somewhere. Then fix an air scoop underneath to channel air directly onto the head. Hopfully this would work well eneough in traffic....

I know centre plugs are normally difficult to get to but would dropping the shock and removing the bump stop give you eneough of an angle to get at the plug or is more work needed?

On my central plug head, I just need to drop the shock the bump stop rubber doesn't need removing.

Wezly(?) on here uses one on his road scoot without any problems, why don't you send him a pm

I use one on my roadgoing RB230 with no cowlings, no fan and cut down mag housing. My head temp gauge rarely goes above 100 deg, averaging about 70 deg.

The huge head dissipates the heat really well. Plug changes require the shock to be removed but not the bump stop.
