What is the thread size of a lambretta fuel tank? (i.e. the threaded stub at the bottom that the tap screws onto)

AT,

I have several tap-fittings here cut from tanks. Do you need one?

I've just welded up the split in my tank. It went at exactly the same place as my last Saigon Special; around the threaded bit. I was going to run a die around the stub to tidy it up a bit after my bodgery. Hence I need to know the size. I don't think my welding skills are quite up to fitting a new stub.

If it still leaks after my efforts I might have to get something else. Maybe a Diablo or an SSP.

You will struggle to find a tap to suit this thread, but good luck.

meanwhile, have a look at item 170308281401 on epay. This is a thread chaser, or thread restoring file. You can get lots of different types and all sorts of prices, but it is a very useful tool to have in your tool chest.

Do a search on epay and see what you can find.

Any good engineering tool supplier could get you an m16x1mm die they probably would have to order one because its not a standard size or ask around and see if you can borrow one.It could be a bit pricey just to re-cut one thread.

I didn't realise that it wasn't a standard size. typical. Maybe the thread file is the way to go.

I'll get more use than a single die
