Hi,

Having problems with fitting flywheel, its a new Indian electronic kit, it seemed to be rubbing
when tightened up.
It looks like the inner of the flywheel is rubbing on the stator bolts, any one else had this problem :?:
I thought you could take off the inner housing (which would be easier to file) by unscrewing the screws round the edge, after loosening 2 of these I noticed that these where actually holding on the flywheel magnets
Anyhoo, the 2 screws that I loosened now won't tighten back up, is this now unrepairable :?:
They still seem to be held in well.

If its still OK to use, is it a question of filing round the bottom edge until it doesnt rub any more :?:
If you look at the pictures I have an edge sticking up after the magnets, this is what must be rubbing....

If it was mine i would have mag flang machined for extra clearence, but an easy and fast way is to grind or file the bolt heads down.

The screws you undone need to be secure or they will come out and make a hell of a mess try some new ones and lock tyte if that dont do it re tap to next size up but that mite unbalance it all, if i had to do that i would probably do them all

what is the set up ie crank and make off fly wheel cos is it painted cant tell

Cheers Al

What bolt heads are you on about, the stator bolts ?
The screws wont 'turn out' of the holes, its as if they have sheared..
Its a SIL flywheel, its not painted, I put black marker pen on it to see where it was rubbing..

Yea the 3 bolts that hold the stator if its them, grind the tops down, af used to supply half hight bolts with the original light fly wheel cos of the same problem,

personaly i would have to get the screws out of the flywheel magnets cos i cant see them staying were they are long term, this is only what i would do,

or see if you can get another flywheel and see if that rubs the same as yours

Cheers Al

If it was mine I would fit a GP crank and a GP Indian flywheel and the problem will most likely go away.

Damned SX shitty remade flywheel boss tapers.

I mended one of these once when the plate on a magnet came off. I araldited the plate back on and drilled to the next size up(the magnet was bloody hard) ,tapped the plate and loctited the new screw back in then dremilled flush. As for the rubbing have you got the stator loom tag on the top stator bolt as this can make it rub ,also the boss can rub on the stator centre hole. Looking at your pics the magnet screw looks to be protruding thru the plate when it should be flush, check the laminates ends.

Thanks for the replies, I have cut my losses on this and ordered a new one, if it rubs I'll machine it down...
