Early S. 1 forks / framebreather: different length ?

i want to swop the early framebreather forks for tv2 forks.
i put them in and the forks are too short, the clamp bolt doesn´fit.
thought about getting few millimetres by cutting off 1-2mm off the lower fork bearing race
and enlarge the headset bolt cutout on forks.

any smarter solutions ?
