Hi I'm really hoping someone out there can answer this.
Has anyone put an italjet formula 125 twin into a lammy frame.
Do you know anyone who has or even seen one???

Basically been wanting to do an auto for a while now, I have a
Frame where the engine mount has been welded on several occasions
And cracked again, the numbers aren't readable any more so I thought
Why not..... Couldn't get hold of the typical auto but the twin came up and
I thought I'd give it a go.. The main difference that first comes to mind is that
All the usual ones I've seen use engines with the mounts underneath...
The twins are on top.....?
So was gonna use the italjet frame at that point, to weld in??

Any ideas, picking the engine up Saturday...

they are a pretty good motor though i believe you are stuck with 125 as i dont think a kit is available and i have heard a crank for these are very expensive as are the expansion pipes so check it out thoroughly before even thinking about frame mods

some pics would help when you get the motor as i may be better to simply change the engine mount to one suitable ....good luck

Thanks guys, once I get sorted, I'll post some pic's
I know that parts are a little hard to get hold of for this
Particular motor, but love the idea of the twin, it has endy pipes
And sounds great. Thinking of upping the carb to 22 or 24 as the
17mm seems alittle small.. And fettle out the manifold to improve flow
In standard form I believe the bhp is around the 12 to 13 mark I.e. Lambretta 200
Territory, so won't try too much to up it as I also believe that the cranks are
Prone to fail if thrashed.. upping the rear to 140/70x12 should help also.
If it can do 70 I'll be happy.. Lol for now.
Only alternative is to get the barrels bored out and recoated would take it up to about
140 but again could put too much strain on the crank...?

i agree with shocky on the engine... these are great engines i have owned a few auto lammys and still own 1 with these engines the l/c version is also avalible in the dragster or gilera runner or hexagon and they do a 180cc fast enough standard. :) if you get the fx 125 or fx 180 engine out the runner these are drum brake they will be easier as you can use a early piaggio skipper rear wheel as this can run lammy rubber and scoot will sit level on a standard front wheel no need for rear master cylinder or pipe as well this way just a cable. i have also had frames done by both above mentioned and both i recomend very helpful people good at what they do if you are thinking of this i would talk to these first ;) you can get big bhp from these and well easier to get bits for than the twin

Thanks guys for the suggestions I just fancied the twin as it sounds great and hopefully I won't have to do any major frame chops to do it, weld on mount on opposite site for rear shock. I've got the twister now and whilst my Ts1 is out of my gp I'm gonna sit it in there. I'll post some picks when I do it, if it turns out to be too slow, I'll do the runner engine instead... :anbrgin;

:D
The rear runner struts fowl so will definitely have to remove the exhaust side one, then the engine should fit nicely, engine mouts and length of engine is virtually the same as a Lambretta engine, engine bolt thinner and gap between mounts is 38mm wider, with no rubber bushing but a bearing..
