lightening a flywheel

yes Sean i plan to fit a nylon fan from beedspeed and have the final weight around the 1.9kg mark. would this require more meat taken away from the lip where it joins the fan?

worth getting a price from beedspeed as they only charge 11 pound to do a primavera flywheel. it cost me more than that for three hours parking this morning

Errrr, no. The magnets fall out of the new AF lightweight f/w and there is no way of putting them back in again. We had this problem on a mate's scooter when we visited JB's today. We noticed some unusual wear under the flywheel last week, but as soon as Dean felt the flywheel he diagnosed a lose magnet. We took it off and there were two lose magnets.

The soltuion was a new machined Indian flywheel with a plastic fan.

If anyone has found a way to seat the magnets ack into the AF flywheel, let me know.

the thing is...........that for most road tunes/set ups........1600 to 1900 grams weight seems
about best.............
the AF flywheel is somewhat lighter.........and does not suit everyone.............

How many do you know of that have lost the magnets including the one you saw Knowledge as I have just fitted one and have had a few of them in the past with no problems other than having to line the pick up with the magnet properly.
The new AF ones come with a washer behind the boss to space it correctly but I hadn't heard of the magnets coming loose.

Not had chance to sort out I was thinking of drilling and tapping them in, abit like SIL ones.

Has anyone spoken to AF about these flywheels? I had one of these on my wish list, but glad I read this first.

It seems a fairly fundumental problem.......
