Looks like it saves soldering extra wire on the stator.

Although I've got all the parts for the Wassel type conversion I just haven't got the time to start swopping stators at the minute.

I use the BGM AC/DC regulator to run my sat nav and mb speedo, works a treat and quick and easy to fit, plug and play....I dont have a battery fitted though

Yes, you can charge a battery to run brake light, horn and accessories etc. but it'll be a half wave charge not full DC like the Wassel/Podtronics.

Regarding a battery for AC system using a 5 pin regulator - LML.
Is there a nice small, lightweight 12v battery out there that'll sit out of the way inside a legshield toolbox?

Any ideas please.

I can't recommend one in particular but believe most are now using alarm batteries for fitting inside toolboxes.

Quite right, have a look in your local Maplin and take down the capacity of the size of sealed lead acid battery that suits your requirements then order one on line or through ebay at about a third of the cost

The capacity you go for will depend on what you want to run off it, spots will need a 7.2 Amp battery which will fit in a legshield tool box or even under the side panel but is a bit bulky.

Ah cheers fellas just seen this, I was desperate and went for a ped battery in the end on Saturday, it's too heavy really for toolbox, but I still have a tray on the frame, so that's where it's going now. "Paid" for it too...ouch!

12V 10AH it's only to run a rev counter initially.

Picked up a BGM AC/DC Reg /Rec at Builth, fitted it today and not impressed yet.

AF original Ducati 12V flywheel and stator, fitted per instructions (not really much to do wrong), put a meter on and got 4.7 VDC @ 4600 revs and 10.52 VAC at 4600 revs that can't be enough - can it?

That's possible, but its enough to trickle charge or run gauges/satnav/phones etc., that's what it's designed for.
