managed to get the lc engine built wired and running in frame ready to be plumbed in started it last night ran perfect for approx 1 min then developed a rattle from bottom end the engine then stopped dead took side case off this morning discovered the locating pin for kickstart piston in bottom of casings circlip and washer were still in place along with the spring thank god put a new locating pin in place everything seemed ok in engine side case fitted back on went to go start it then nowt when i kick it over kick start will depress but there is a lot of compression or seems to be, it seems like its slightly in gear as it creeps forward as its kicked over ive removed gear cables and undone clutch to eliminate them but it still seems to be doing it any clues at all :wtf: :x because ive got all the tools out and there is a lump hammer handy ready for tw@77ing it cheers as always

Sounds like a bit of something had got between the lose gears maybe, was the pin that fell out intact? any teeth chipped off 1st gear?

found the pin intact changed clutch ,basket, plates ,pressure plates and crown wheel in case it was that now the whole set up is spongy ie its like clutch pulled in kickstart goes straight down with little or no resistance even went as far as taking flywheel off in case woodruff key had gone noticed that with the flywheel off i could see crank taper move erratically in effect very slowly like it was slipping so its off with the side case again check plunger and spring and remove gear box while im at it just to check
