barrel and rear shock advice needed

i just had my rapido 225 (200 bored out) seize doing 60mph gps while towing trailer, it snapped the top ring which seems to have gone thru the exhaust port cleanly with no damage to port , trouble is the barrel spiot has snapped of on the inlet side(prob due to running it in a casing bored out for a 250 rapido.
what i need is a 200-225 kit which will sit at a genuine 60mph for 40-50 mile stretches while carrying me ,wife and trailer running a clubman .
my hagon rear shock has gone bouncy again after 10 months so im now looking for a new shock for my series 2 that can take two up travelling and i can fit and forget
any ideas ?

What about one of MBs RT kit like train driver is running...Diablo was very complimentary about it just lately..would you fancy the R1/6 converted shocker..? 225Lb shock for 2 up and the and rear drag from the pav....if they fit series 2..

mates got a rt kit seems a good bit of work but im really looking an iron barrel for long life i think.
def not going to fit anr1/6 shock because they have no rubber bushings in mounting eyes so thereby negating sideways movements on engine mounts. i truly believe a rear shock needs to move in all axis just like engine mounts do not just one. the bgm shock looks good if anyone has one for sale.

Thing is, on the face of it mate, you not asking for the earth, just an iron barrel (or linered?) that will do a relible 60mph. Linda Bedson (2nd LCGB Best Supporting Female Club Member) and her other half Mark both used SIL S4 200 barrels with Asso pistons, 22mm carbs and Clubmans. Keeping it simple paid of for them in terms of reliability and fuel costs, if not in outright performance. Worth a thought?
I'd have thought the Rapido is along the right lines thou........

I have a Rapido 225 with asso piston- the original escorts snagged a ring on the exhaust port whilst ticking over!
It pulls really well throughout the gears and will sit at 55 - 60 gps no probs, I fitted a vapor speedo recently and have been spending more time watching the cht rather than the road, I did notice that at a prolonged 55mph the temperature sat at a constant temp but once I put the engine under load uphill - the temperature rose very rapidly .

Maybe another decent piston in the rapido with some method of watching temperature if towing and two up?
