After help!!

Have a mallosi 166 set up with the suggetsed malossi power pipe. The kit came via VE at the garage who fitted it all.

However 8 months later the exhaust keeps falling off at the bracket where it joins the engine. A friend turned it over and informed me that the main bolt that secures the pipe to the scooter had been over tightened and hence had no securing nut on the end.

Its now despite being tightened and having a ni-lock bolt added still falls off after a couple of days from being tightened after re fit.

I tried the mallosi website and then VE who wouldnt give me the time of day with assistance as i was not a dealer other than it may be special order to get the pipe fixing kit or similar ????

Can any one help??

Is there such a thing as a pipe fixing kit? Is it just a bolt? and where do i get one from??? Does this also mean that it all needs changing??

Ive been also told the engine will have to come out to get the previous bolt off the exhaust ( hence why i want to source the parts/kit rather than end up with a huge bill at a dealer or garage/ unless i really have to)

Any advice welcome

Thanks

Phil

Is the pipe falling off from the exhaust stub or are you on about the main engine bolt?

And don't talk to me about VE, had a "chat" with one of them after a VE supplied crank snapped having done 150 miles, "never seen that before, you must've fitted it wrong, are you a Vespa trained mechanic?" Customer service skills non existant so don't expect any joy from them!

meet tom and he seems like a good genuine bloke only young as well 8-) long may it continue
i presume you are on about the main bolt that fits through the engine case near the silent blocks .this is just a nut and bolt i use a nylok when i do it with lots of coppa slip (not on the threads though) i dont know your pipe but some have the nut within a square cage to stip 5the thing spinning i normally grind that off .ive never had to drop an engine but always remove the rear wheel i also use a large repair washer either side to spread the load
