I have done a couple of short journey's maybe 30 miles in total evrything seems ok but I have noticed that there are black oily deposits on the flywheel cowl and on the exhaust end can. I haven't checked the plug yet will do that later but does this sound normal.

Also for info but hopefully not related but I checked the gear box oil and I had slightly over filled it.

Cheers

have you used a head gasket?
You may have a slight head leak but mine has a few patches that don't seem to get any bigger. May be worth checking the head torque. I also had oil deposits on my panel till I filled the rivets on the can with a bit of silicon. You don't say what carb you have but my Imola is a bit messy not having an air filter, it spits a bit of oil around and can get blown and sucked in

It's a full rebuild with a 30mm carb and yes I have fitted a head gasket, could be just from the carb but I'll check the cylinder head, the oil on the exhaust did look like it had come from the bolts that hold the end can on so I nipped them up a bit but only a touch.
thanks

Just checked and it's coming from the joints on the exhaust, I've fitted a Franspeed Stainless JL so not sure if this level of shite is normal or I am just being over cautious.
