Firstly I know nothing about J125's...................

Mate has a problem with the carb.

Scooter will start and ticks over for a few seconds then dies. Using the throttle doesn't affect it at all i.e. no increase or decrease in engine revs.

Electrics are fine with a good spark. Timing is spot on.

Been through the carb many times with compressed air and carb cleaner- no difference.

Fuel is definately getting through.

Any thoughts anyone?

distinct possibility- just phoned him and he remembers the exhaust "being heavy" when he put it back on.

He's going to take it off and inspect- watch this space...............

Spot on!! My mate took off the old exhaust and it was badly coked up- put a replacement on and problem solved!
