A mate of mine has just, in his wisdom, purchased a second hand Pinasco kit for his P2, fitted it and is now complaining that it runs like a sack of spuds.

Tried to check the squish last night and discovered that I could fit my couch in there so can only presume it's meant to be running a 60mm crank?

Had a play and got it running a bit better...... set up at the minute is as follows;

standard carb, Mazzucelli standard crank, 128 main, BE3, 160 air corrector. 5mm hole drilled in filter.
JL right hander, timing roughly 20 btdc.

He's got at least 1.5mm negative deck and then a good 2+mm in the head so squish is knocking on for 4mm???

Not played with a Pinasco before so can anyone give me a bit of a heads up?

Is he running it with a modded P200 head? There is a dedicated head from Pinasco to use with that kit.

Aye kid, it's the full Pinasco kit, barrel, piston and head.
Like I said I know standard P2's have quite a big squish but seriously this has got to be at least 4 to 5mm.
He's been in touch today and said it ran a lot better after a tinker last night but I'm just wondering has anyone set one up sweet?

Stirling Hopkirk is the man to ask.

From memory Pinasco did 2 'heads for the kit and the volumns of 31cc and 34 cc spring to mind, no idea about squish but what I do know is Pinasco always designed it with at least one eye on stroker cranks and tended to be conservative at best with the performance.

Whilst they're deeply shite the twin induction models at least had the decancy to give you a proper induction roar when you opened the taps.

check your timing - make sure you are in spec FOR THE KIT~
biggest mistake people make is not changing the timing when they use a kit -it MUST be done or you will toast it ~

good luck - hope you get it sorted :geek:

Pinacso supplied 2 different heads IFAIK. 30 and 34cc
It seems that if Alberto packed the box it'll have a 30, If Giuseppe did it, it'll be a 34. I've had kits with both. Both the same part number.
Instructions say 23 deg timing.
30 head and 23 deg!!! Pinks like a b@5t@rd.
Im running,(all be it a TI),34cc head and 20 deg, No head gasket. 60mm crank. 1.2mm squish

I'm sure I remember reading somewhere that there are two versions. A 213 which uses the standard crank and the 225 which is a long stroke version.

According to SIP....

Racing cylinder PINASCO 215cc

for Vespa 200 Rally/P200E
/PX200 E/Lusso/`98/MY/Cosa
200
aluminium, 6 ports,
stroke 57mm, 2 piston ring(s),
w cylinder head, Ø 69,0mm,

Update to the max! PINASCO's motto is loud and clear, "cubic capacity cannot be replaced, except with more capacity". A powerful statement here is the strong and sporty 213ccm, and gets brutal 224ccm with long stroke shaft and 60mm stroke. The high quality manufactured aluminum cylinder not only steals the show with a maximal 69mm bore; it's perfectly finished, the flawless GILARDONI cast meta; and durable NICASIL race coating. The high quality ASSO piston rounds out the picture and confirms the demand for highest quality from PINASCO. Ideal as a powerful daily cruiser or for tuning purposes. Whoever wants more, can simply add a sport exhaust, a modified intake and long stroke shaft to put wings on their Vespa. Different from earlier versions, which were constructed to be used with a long stroke shaft, the newest PINASCO has to be driven with a head or base gasket. A SIP favorite combination with the 213cc for a 200 touring Vespa with circa 20 hp and 115 - 120 km/h cruising speed: SIP Performance, shorter 4 gear, racing crankshaft, LUSSO III clutch and 24 T5 / 26er carburetor 225cc, with a great record in long distance driving and powerful performance around town.

I'd believe Tony Blair before SIP.
