The ads seem to fare very well in the test and yes I agree that in my experience the Nk does tend to self destruct a bit dunn it bro.. :D
The irony here is that the ADS and the NK pipes are now made by the same fella with the same bracketry, though to be fair it's light years ahead of the old NK stuff.

Sticky, some of those pipes that really appeal look a little fat. Will there be a test to see if you can still lean with them on? A road test would be nice to see how they perform on the road.

I for one enjoyed the pipe test but i feel it only tells part of the story and thats not really down to the mag as they only have so much space. We saw road pipes, race pipes and tourers being tested which are all designed to give the power in different places. Also very little was given to how they perform at low revs around town/in traffic ect. I have 2 of the raod/race pipes that they mention and they are a bit of a pain in the a**e at low revs to put it mildly. .... :D

It took more than a day simply to fit and dyno them all - testing them all on the road is not feasible in terms of time, however the top 3 we could certainly try on the road. I've still got the NK Road to play with but all the others have either gone back or are up for grabs in the competition. We'll see.

You can tell how bad these will be round town by comparing the graphs at 5,000 rpm. A good all-rounder like the Devtour is making about 13hp which is nice and driveable, The JL4 is making only around 11hp (approx 20% less) and the ADS3 is making 17.5hp (approx 35% more) so there is a massive range of difference which is not necessarily reflected in the peak power outputs.

i think we,ve established its an all new nk pipe so talking about the old nk is pointless.
i think the carb was a little small for my liking on the test scoot but id like to hear from someone who has one on a road bike
very interesting after all the "plugging" on here for other pipes

There was a mistake in the layout in the mag and the graph for the High Rpm pipes was not included.

It is now up on line at http://www.scootering.com/news/lambrett ... rect-graph

Sticky how come you have put the ADS5 (Fast Road) in mid rpm catergory and the Fran Race in the High rpm cat? ADS5 and the Fran Race came out all but the same even peaking within just 50 rpm of each other? Remeber we couldn't believe it when we did the test?

When you look most pipes (The new ones anyway) peak the same in mid and high graphs bar our race pipe that didn't really work and needs a good handful of port duration but it is called a Race for a reason! (designed to peak at 9k thats how mismatched to the barrel it is-reckon needs another 10-15 deg!)
