I did have the needle on the 3rd (middle) clip originally, then raised it to 2nd. So should I try 4th?
Cheers

Setting a carb is about trial and error a lot of the time so, yes, you can try it.

Can I suggest you read the tech pages on the ScootRs website about setting these carbs, and also if you can get it the SCK catalogue. Can I also suggest that you mark your throttle 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 etc so you can identify where the problem is. Your speed won't tell you this.

Also, use proper Keihin needles. There seems to be a popular misconception that the supplied needle is a JJH. Certainly the one I had marked 28 on a bgm 28 was not a JJH.

The reason I mentioned your timing is that (I'm presuming it's electronic ignition?), if it's out, you can spend forever trying to set the carb when that's not your problem. 18 or 19 degrees I'd suggest from my experience.

Also, you're running the carb open at the moment. Are you going to keep it open? if not, then there's no point setting the carb yet as as soon as you add a filter, it will throw your jetting out.

Thanks stoorkfoot, all advice appreciated. It is electronic, gp crank etc. Timing was set to 18 degrees. I would like to run it through an airbox and filter, however I have just purchased a second hand gp airbox, which on examination doesnt seem to be any bigger than my Li :!:

As per my previous post, I had the same issues as you - only difference being my cylinder was a Casa 185. Couldn't get the OKO happy through an airbox, came close through a high volume K&N filter (remote) but it was only really happy when open mouthed.

As per storkfoot's comments, read all of the supporting material you have, and definitely mark your throttle positions so you can pin point which circuit is giving you the problem. And do proper plug chops at each marked position.

And - make sure you're not running too much oil on the mix!
