why do people still want ts1s ?

Anything related to Lambrettas... ask tech questions, post helpful info, or just read and learn.

I dynoed my TS1 with a TMX30 and a TMX35. There was no difference.

I only changed to a TMX35 because I found I couldn't get crisp jetting on the 30mm at 1/4 throttle with the pipe I was using at the time.

Playing with a TMX30 meself after trying a TMX35, no room for a filter though. I may have asked before but what jetting are you using?

A TS1 seems to be able to be set up for most requirements with correct gearing, carb and exhaust with all sorts of combinations of crank and rod, the world is your oyster, it would seem. If mine were to blow, I think I'd look at a torquey 240.
I'm not too sure right now... i had my carb off last week too! I could have double checked!

I have them written down but I think its a 35 pilot, 5ej5 needle? 220 main an 70 power jet

We have talked about my jetting before mike I think... I was telling you how I had to drastically rejet my carb when I changed my boysen reeds from the ones I got from scooter surgery to the ones MB sell... It was bizarre, tey must have been designed for a different model yamaha - like they let through more fuel? or less?

Anyway thats a different can of worms!

Cezeta, where in London are you? did you want to come to stockwell (me) and check out my ts1? its running a 60mm crank, low comp head, 30mm carb etc similar to what you want to end up with. You could check out if there might be enough room for an air filter on my carb in your frame etc. Unfortunately I recently took my ancilotti clunman off, so its not quite so torquey, but its still got a big fat powerband

db im over near windsor now (from teddington up untill recently) but stockwell is no distance as long as i dont get shot as a terrorist.

im dithering between a ts1 240, 30mm mikuni and maybe a clubman again, or

rapido 240 or even a 250 though i dont really want to machine the spiggot on sx200 casings so would have to use a differant lump, which i have.

when are you thinking? or if you fancy a ride over to mine then im 200 yards from windsor great park and the lakes ect so you are welcome to have a ride over. a nice place to visit. (im being hospitable not lazy :o )

You're the only person I know that has got to use the power jet, how did you go about setting it up and how does it feel?

Are you around in the afternoons? I'm out in staines tomorrow afternoon (wednesday) and finish out there about 3

I set it up as per scooter centre catalog

before I had a power jet in there and a larger main jet and you could feel the powerjet kick in around 8k rpm (the engine suddenly ran rich)

I honestly dont know if it works properly! but my spark plug chops look OK. I would like to get in on a dyno sometime soon tho to get it all set up perfectly. I've never had a bike set up on the dyno before so it would be interesting to see how much I am out with what I feel!

Nick... You cannot beat, the years of experience of Mr. Terry Shepherd, T.S... Who did the first kit, hence the "1". He was an experienced engineer. When they asked him if he could make the porting of a std. barrel better, he looked at it and said "but of course". When he was asked 20 years later about making a second better kid, he replied "yeah, I could do that". I wonder what ever happened to that.

i think a massive plus point of the kit was its price,with new fantastic kits emerging all the time with equally fantastic price tags,its sad the choice of buying a proven reliable kit with marginally less power than the new kits has been taken away from us.

you cant beet the ring ding ding of a big piston ported motor though. im not completely condemning the ts1, it produces good power but it takes away some of the charm of the original lambretta motor.

trouble is ive always had a ts1 on the road so have never ridden a standard scooter, even the vega was played with.

i find myself yerning for a piston ported motor and i think ill keep the ts1 on the shelf, build a rapido 250 with a filter and clubman......if af rayspeed will ever answer their sodding phone :x then when i get bored do a ts1 250. ccs rule revs are tedious.

i think its more a matter of what I fancy rather than whats best.....i struggle making a decision though without working out the meaning of life in the process :roll: :oops:

Ian you say cezeta's Ts1 has lots of upgrade possibilities can you tell us what they are.
Remember he really only wants to use a 28mm mikuni and one of marks clubmans.
20bhp at 6000rpm and 20lb/ft torque at 4000rpm :lol: , can master mark help ;)
TS1 and PX stay in the garage (future barn finds) out on the GTS 300 when I go out on a scooter.
I know I’ll get there and back
