engine bump stop...

forgive my ignorance but why do i have to use/put a big washer between casing and rubber bump stop???? :wtf:

the washer is there for a very good reason ,it supports the rubber and stops it getting pushed down into the hollow ...DOH.
but leave it out if you wish :lol:
