First time out on my Li150s, after engine rebuild etc. It's now running an ali 185 kit through a 24mm PWK/OKO carb. Firstly, I've discovered it doesnt like running through the airbox, even though I have removed the baffles and put some extra holes in the box!
Secondly, the carb is kicking out petrol from the mouth!
Thirdly, it's great when accelarating, but stutters and 'double pops' when holding a steady speed!

Currently jeting is 34 pilot and 114 main, plug colour is not too bad, maybe abit dark.

Has any one got any hints/tips on these problems?

Many thanks
Dave

OK, read through the PWK set up instructions on scootrs website, I have dropped the main jet to a 112, raised the needle from pos. 3 to pos. 2 and adjusted the float.
Took it out for a quick spin, and immeadiatly notice the difference. Sounds crisper, accelarated better, no petrol ouzing out and no 'pop popping' at cruise. So seems to have sorted it :D
Will report back tomorrow after our usual Sunday morning meet!

It's a bit better, but still at cruising speed it hesitates and picks up, then hesitates and picks up again, ongoing? Any ideas?

OK, I've increased the main jet to 116, I've also put a fast flow tap on inplace of standard and been out for a spin. There's no doubt its running better above 40mph (guess, due to crap speedo!), but still a little bit of backing off then picking up, would anyone advise increasing main jet again, to get rid of the problem?
cheers

before you do anything else, check for air leaks and check your plug colour

leaks can be anywhere, inlet rubber, inlet manifold not sealing on cylinder, zorst manifold loose or not sealing.. in fact, what zorst are you running??

etc..................

I'm loathe to say it, but lots of people have the same issues as you describe with OKO PWK clones... Including me. I couldn't resolve mine - and damaged the carb trying to. I've just purchased a Mikuni TM24 and am hoping for better (if only because I have mates with lots of Mikuni experience, unlike the OKO).

Check my previous posts as several knowledgable people from this forum provided some good advice.

Good luck,

Dan

What needle have you got and what's your timing set at? Oh, and what filter are you running now if you're not running through the airbox?

Have you marked up your throttle so you can identify exactly where on the throttle progression you have a problem?

Hi storkfoot,
I think my needle is a JJH second clip from top. It's currently breathing direct as I found the airbox (even when drilled and baffles removed) was causing it to struggle. Plug colour is good chocolaty brown. Excelarating is superb, it's just when holing speed about 45 - 50 mph. 34 pilot, 116 main.

The speed you are talking about is probably around 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and therefore it'll be mainly the needle that you need to work on. Try raising the needle a notch (lower the clip) as the hunting (going up and down) that you describe sounds like it could be too lean, rich would be stuttery. If that doesn't work or moves the problem somewhere else in the rev range then you will need to think about a different needle.

Good luck
