ive been avoiding taking the spanners to the ts1 after it went bang last year but now have to face the music.
im not sure what happened but i got the playing cards in the spokes sound of rings in the exhaust port then no compression
so im assuming it needs re plating, ive got a 60mm alpha crank waiting to go in, im going to change to a lower compression centre plug head so the next thought is what to do bore wise.
for max ccs should i steel liner it ?
also i see somewhere else a german inlet that allows enough space to run a filter? any ideas who sells them?
ts1 rebuild time, i want more grunt so whats my best option
Any pics, or a link to the German inlet that you mention.....as for bore size I wouldnt go bigger than 71mm and then get the barrel re-plated.......

Corrado has a TS manifold that will allow use of a filter, really nice piece of kit and made in England. if you have 1mm taken from the bottom of the barrell as per MBD touring tune you'll get more grunt, if it's an Indian case 1.5mm.

If you are using an Alpha crank (110mm rod) you won't need to machine the barrel just use the appropriate thickness of base packer, but I'm sure you had already worked that out for yourself.
60 stroke X 71mm bore = 240cc.

ive already had 1mm off the base.
ive got 19.5 bhp and 15lbs of torque.
im looking for more torque.
whats the max bore that a ts1 can be squeezed to? im hoping to use a race tour piston so 71 looks like the biggest thats listed?

i personally wouldnt be that worried if it was a 70 or 71mm bore, what pipe will you be using?
CANT SEE WHY YOU COULDNT GO TO 250 USING A 72MM PISTON PERHAPS EVEN THE RB ONE ,WOULDNT IT BE MORE ECONOMICAL TO SELL THE TS AND GET A RB

jl3 or a kegra race which is similar to a jl4 but a proper kegra made one.
ive also run it on a clubman, i quite liked it but in hindsight it needed up gearing as it did not rev as far.
whats a scored ts1 and head worth?

Ive mannaged to get 22 BHP and near to 18 ft lbs of torque out of a near std TS1 barrel... as measured on Reedspeeds dyno not my scoot but a mates Gordon the Jock.
I fitted a Reedspeedcenter plug-center squish head with 11.5-1 compression ratio with a 1.2mm squish clearance, Taffspeed crank (not padded) with a 110 rod on a 58mm stroke, 3mm base packer, (no head gasket fitted) broadhurst manifold, blended to match a Yamaha reed valve, polished smooth and gas flowed the reed valve, MB reedvalve pack piece fitted, 34mm Amal mk2, transfares std in the bore but widened down their length and blended to the case, Taffspeed pipe (not known for revs but gives good torque) and a Variatronic Ignition (set static to 23 degrees retarding to approx 16 degrees at full revs) but other than blending and polishing the ports a little. all port timings and widths are standard.......
although not massive power, it gives a very flat power band and is very easy to ride, pulls GP200 gears 20x47 sprockets...

I was talking to Harry Barlow at Kettering - He is promoting a tune which I reckon you would like
He was selling a crank with a wiseco rod to use a 71mm KX wiseco piston. He would also port the cylinder for more torque, get it bored then replate it
His opinion was that you were better to get the cylinder replated than iron line it as the ali was better at heat dissapation.
Talk to Harry... I guess there is not much difference in using an alpha crank / MB piston over a wiseco option
He was saying the kit was tuned for torque and would run out of gas past 7500 revs
