Clutch or gearbox woes..

When my PX is slowing down, going down the gears, it locks the rear wheel when letting the clutch out when it is in gear. I believe this is called 'the overun'. I'm not really using the gearbox to slow down, more to ensure I have engaged the next gear properly but am hesitant to do this as I have to...

Re: px front drum brake problem....

Thanks...I'll look at getting a one piece cable as it is spongey, though I guess I'll have to put the original back on for MoT.

I'll give the shoes and drum a bit more attention too!!!

Cheers,
Phil.

Re: px front drum brake problem....

I cleaned and greased it well. I also had to reprofile (bend) the cam-shaft supporting bracket as it was at the wrong angle and nipped the camshaft when it was tightened. The actuating arm still does not return fully but it is good enough. The scoot handles so much better with the new fork but the f...

Re: px front drum brake problem....

Thanks for the reply...I'll give it a go.

I recently bought a HBOL for the PX but it lacks detail, it is the worst HBOL ever printed !!

px front drum brake problem....

Hi All, I've just fitted a new front fork to my PX200 and have put the rest of the front end back together but I have a problem with the front drum brake actuating mechanism. When I tighten up the actuating arm onto the cam shaft it makes the actuating arm stiff to operate and prevents it from retur...

Re: PX Disc Brake Conversion.

I know I'm reviving an old topic here, but I've read somewhere that the disc brake off an ET4 fit onto a PX, though the disc is on the other side of the wheel (which doesn't bother me to be honest). Is this true?

If so, which parts do I need to convert it?

TIA

Re: DIY PX200 engine rebuild

Thanks very much for all the replies everyone!! My PX is a 1992 (J reg) with autolube. It's a PX200 but I'm not sure which model it is. I had a look on the scooterhelp website. Do I assume that the clutch unit is accessible under the domed cover and can be removed with the engine in situ? Also, in o...

DIY PX200 engine rebuild

The clutch on my PX200 judders / snatches occasionally when it is let out, especially at high revs, and clunks when changing into a different gear, so I am planning to dismantle and rebuild the engine. I guess a new clutch is required and other bits. In the past I have done engine rebuilds on other ...

Re: PX Disc Brake Conversion.

I've roughed up the shoes and the drum and adjusted it, but it has not made any real improvement. I've maybe been spoiled because all the bikes I have had up to now have had good disc front brakes - apart from my first fizzer, but that is so long ago I can't remember if it was any good. (OMG that wa...

Re: PX Disc Brake Conversion.

I forgot to ask... If I just bought the bits I need i.e. hub, caliper, caliper mounting bracket, hydraulic hose, master cylinder c/w lever would that do it? I'm just thinking about saving carriage if I could use my existing forks as I'm nearly sure no one round where I live will have a set up for sa...
