Hi Ian, thanks for the thought, but the oil is coming out of the crankcase breather, not the gearbox, which is seperate on the back of the engine. I shall double check though that I have put the right amount in the crankcase. Regards Ken.

LOSING ENGINE OIL
As you all know I have a trike derived from a 1964 Lambro Fli 175. The barrel has been uprated to 200cc (barrel stud pattern is the same), running a dellorto 30mm carb for better acceleration and a part original exhaust/silencer with an end can on it. My problem is that intermittently the engine oil...

no-one else has mentioned it so I will. Have you got an in line fuel filter on your scooter?? Have been known to create a vacuum in the supply pipe, starving engine of fuel.

if you are aiming for approx the same weight as a standard lambretta, a full scooter (series 3) weighs 105kg if thats any help. And yes your engine weight figure is correct.

And make sure that you torque your flywheel up to the correct setting. A slack flywheel is usually the cause of a sheared woodruff key.

I have seen these BGM stators for sale on Fleabay, and it used to (don't know about now) state in the listing that they were not suitable for use with the AF flywheel.
