I've gone and bought a Vespa

Post pics & videos of your scooter, projects you're working on, a lovely Vespa that you saw at a rally, or anything else scooter related.

It won best Vespa at the IoW in 2008. I saw it then and fell in love. Two years later it came up for sale. Time to buy my first Vespa since 1982.

It looks lovely but has got some problems. The conversion to a P2 engine doesn't leave enough room between the cylinder head and the body for the suspension to work properly and so I've had to slice a bit off the top of the fins in that area and extend the shock slightly. Also annoyingly, the panel latch and clips fell to bits. Nothing a bit of fiddling won't cure though and it should be the nuts when done.

The Burgundy Bajaj is for sale again...it says Chetak on docs, but is actually a Super. Try selling something that doesn't say Piaggio Vespa on the docs and you'll find how hard it is to move on! Hence my recent post on the thread regarding registering an import.

Anyway sold the bike to a kid at work for £475, he paid 50% up front with agreement to pay the rest soonish...then got taken to court for not submitting tax returns since 2003!!! So has to sell everything he owns virtually! The end result being I got the bike back and refunded him 50% cash, nice one - not!

So, it's a 1998 R Bajaj Super 150 (says Chetak on docs and 125 also!!) Lovely lines like a rally/sprint. has SIP style seat, small bodyline bullet indicators mounted to panels, pair of new tyres and cracked tailpipe Simonini or Sito Plus (your choice).

I have no room, time or money to do anything with it...Tax and Mot ran out Sept 2009. £450 and it's anyone who wants it.

Sorry to jump on your post too!

I've just spent a load of money turning my Jet from a slow but reliable go anywhere machine into a temperamental thoroughbred. If its all the same I'l leave the old P2 lump as Mr. Vespa intended. It may only do 60mph but it will do it all day (as long as there are no hills or headwinds).
