Rear Bulb holder improvement???

I have been trying to improve my cr*&p indian homemade or whatever bulb holder but failing as it is so poor quality. The lights kept going intermitently. So I wondered has anyone made their own or used something better for the brake/rear light bulb and holder?
I have 2 red led strips i am going to integrate above and below (similar to what you see on car windows when they brake). But it is the actual holder i find a problem - i want to scrap it but any ideas what i can put the 2 wires plus earth in which will take a 12v bulb, perhaps even something more brighter. I have a S3 type rear housing on a GP? I dont mind trying any ideas eg a motorcycle rear internal but it needs to match the my front/rear brake and main light.
Failing that someone who sells decent bulb holders, which so far is proving difficult.

Don't hold me to it, but try ScootRS, I think the alloy GP rear light unit has a new bulb holder in it, failing that try Scooter Restorations maybe??

Any one doing a decent replacement for series 1-2
Finally got round to taking mine off tonight, the 2 wood screws should have told me something, tin foil and gaffer tape, and more verdigris on any remaining contacts, soldering the wires direct to the bulb is the only option for this balls up.
What are the polished alloy complete units like,(Ebay) or can you get the holders separate, Festoon LEDs any good, going for the DC Podtronics conversion.

I bought a cheap led rear light, like
this, took the innards out and bolted them onto the reflector. saves faffing about with strips of LEDS and resistors.

Great idea -do you think the innards will fit into the thin type S2 rear light units ?

yep, they're quite small.
and you really need to sort out your rear light.... riding behind you last night, your reflector was giving out as much light as your rear lamp...
