stripped my engine down for a checkover & rebuild, so took the MEC 58/107 crank up to CSE to check it.
I last had it checked 5000 thrash-happy miles ago, and it was still true.
done over 9000 miles on it in all.
Not bad for a reasonably priced crank.

That's a hell of a recomendation concidering that a good amount of those miles were on the original 125 special gearing and you don't exactly dawdle:shock:

got one in my rapido. really good for the money. must be about 7-8000 on it now. everyday use, rallys, etc. about 6.5 thousand of that was when it was an open mouthed 30mm carb, (proper) stage four, and it never murmured. i"d done two re-built cranks in in 700 miles (from a reputable source) , so was a bit pissed off crank wise, in a standardish , rally going scooter. one went after 46 miles of running in round the doors on a sunday morning! big end solid ! (gaz powell has that now, and scotty dsc got the other to rebuild) good enough for me . and i thrash the nuts off mine every where. next motor for my GP (new toy) is getting one as well. recomended. ;)

yes, damn good cranks in my oppinion ,great value for the money...
at first I dared only use these myself in motors less than 20 bhp...but its now apparent that they can cope with more, and reliably...
i,ve never had or seen one fail as yet. :D

Byron, what engine/bhp were you putting through this?
I assume it's a MEC black race crank?

My road scooter has a MEC black crank in it...... 4000+ miles last year on a Mugello 225 Charlie Edmonds tuned...... no problems at all... They are great cranks for road use imho

The MEC ones are made by Tameni, right? They are great cranks, I currently have a couple in scooters..BUT I did have one actually have the flyside spindle snap right at the inner seal lip. I am pretty sure it was a fluke due to a metallurgical issue.

How many types of crank do MEC sell for a Lambretta and how do you identify them? I have some GP cranks in stock from MEC but don't know how to tell the difference between a standard crank and a better quality one, I wouldn't want to sell someone a crank that wouldn't be suitable for their application.
