my choke lever mechanism turns about 30 degrees before it starts pulling the cable, then stops pulling before the end of travel
all in all it only pulls about 4mm
(spanish 70s lever i think)

any knowledge as to what to do to improve length of pull (no pun intended)

cheers
mick

ps - or can anyone recommend a quality make of assembly i can purchase (would like to keep shiny lever itself)

Have you got too much play in the cable?

cable length is ok, i think the problem is the lever doesnt start to pull the cable until about a third/half its travel

Hi Mick,

I measured the length of pull on the choke lever I have in the workshop (I use a completely different one on the Abarth) and it pulls the cable by 7mm. If the spiral groove within the body of the choke lever mechanism is worn, then it might not pull the cable by 7mm.

I hope this helps.

If it is one of my cables, and it could benefit from alteration, just post it back and I'll do it F.O.C.

found out its the cable outer isnt being stopped by the lever "shroud"

the old one had a washer that stopped the outer from pulling along with the inner
