Petrol tap joint

Does anyone know where I might get an extended petrol tap joint........the brass one that fits between the tap and the lever?

I've fitted a larger tank and can't get the tap to line up with the lever, so I've had to connect two joints together.....this throws out the way the lever lines up on the front of the body loop. If I could get a brass joint which was twice the length of a normal one, I'd be able to realine the lever.

I know scootrs sell the extra joints but not sure they have them in the length you need. I had similar trouble on my ser. 1 and I got a piece of old fuel tap lever rod I had laying around and took my dremel to it and made up the piece I needed, works a treat. If you don't have any old rod laying around I'm sure you could buy a small piece of steel rod in the right diameter and do the same.

Ive just fitted a modified tank to a lammy (the tap location moved a little nearer to the panel and away from the engine mount) which then needed two connectors between the tap and lever, this put the tap position out by 90 degrees and caused the tap to hit the bridge piece and was slightly over length.
I cut the petrol tap rod to re-weld and also slightly shortened it at the same time. To keep it straight when welding just lie it flat in a piece of angle iron, tack it back together then weld if the length and position is right.

I've fitted a larger tank recently, if you cut the strap rubbers (make them thinner) it should fit. and or try a CamLam rear exit tap......

I have just built a li special , extended the tap rod and angled it to point at the air box mntg and shortened the lever accordingly this stops the carb breaking the tap as the suspension compresses. used a piece of 8mm st steel about 40mm lng and drilled it 7mm to fit over tap rod, then pinned it using the split pin and filed down the other end to take the brass joint.
If you use more joints the lever just locks

Just in case anyone is interested I have just purchased an extention piece with three settings from my local workshop (Obsession in Dudley). I'm told that they are MB's and look to be exactly what I've been looking for.
