The shock had come apart and the other side was on it's way too:


I've now epoxied the bushes in place but they looked a bit perished so I know they are going to need replacing in the very near future, I'm after some reccomendations on shocks preferably some that will fit under the gaiters.

Escorts: cheap and cheerful but do the job
BGM: dogs dangles, but morgage expensive
Kawasaki: as above..?
Hows about that for starters mucker..

I didn't fit these so I'm not sure what they are but suspect they are Escorts, I was tempted by the BGMs for sale on here the other day but I want the scoot to remain as standard looking as possible - I was looking at a set of BGMs fitted on a scoot the other day and they'd oxidised something terrible, has anyone elses suffered?

I think I'll see how these fair up for now I suppose, someone has suggested large washers either side to stop it happening too.

That was the next option Dazza, it does work with large repair washers and will keep the bush in place..

its a common problem just get some 20mm repair washers you might not get 20mm with a 6mm hole in them as some come with a 3/16 hole(4,8mm)its also worth checking the shock is parallel with the fork leg when viewed from the front reason is if the bottom of the damper is pushed out this will exasperate and encourage the shock to push off the eye rubbe,r FYI even the BGM shock centers can be pushed out as there a straight bush but they are alot tighter fitting than most
dazza if you get stuck for some washers i have some here i use stainless as its not under any direct load but be carefull that you can still get the nylock all the way on
