Had a similar thing on a GP I once owned. It had been rebuilt, going slow it was fine but when you got to over 75 ish the front seemed to loose stability the frame felt like it had turned into jelly. On mine it was a bit of grit in the fork bearings. I fitted loose rollers top and bottom after cleaning out the bearing tracks and fork stem, the scooter was fine after that.

think the problem may have been sitting too far back which made front end light when going around a fast corner

I would go with tyre balancing.
My RB started doing the same over 75ish when I first put Raceman tyres on.
I balanced the tyres front and back, no problems since.

its also worth getting the hubs and wheel balanced as one if poss a good tyre fitting place could do it

Try tightening your front axle nuts...
OR just go with the wobble and start singing and dancing to Easy Lover by Phil Collins and Philip Bailey. Either one may work.
