i have just upgraded to an imola and have a NK 5yr old exhaust. It seems a bit sluggish upto 40mph as though it wants to go and unburnt fuel is present. Could this be jetting (which was setup on a dyno) - it was a wet day both times (changing tyres due to puncture, so havent tried since). Or have others with imolas found this and changed exhausts?

Sounds like the way NK pipes work.

I think the Imola is a highly tuned kit to produce high power at high revs. To get the best out of it you need to match the gearing to the exhaust. I used a pacemaker box and sprockets (forget sizes) to give a 5.4 final drive ratio, matched to a 'revvy' scootrs pipe and it was a real flier. To do some distance rallying I figured I'd higher the gears to 5.00 and use an all rounder type exhaust (JL3) but that combination just killed the performance. I love the buzz of 9000 rpm and if I'd have wanted to sit on the A1 at 55 mph then I'd have bought a Mugello. Clubman will work nicely at 40 mph but it won't get anywhere near 9000 rpm. NK will do 40mph nicely too ..... in 2nd gear.

i changed the gearboxt to a li150, i am gonna have to check the other bits to see what my final drive is. But considering the skill of the guy who did it, i dont think he would mismatch. I think its just getting used to it but cuz i wanna go slow for at least 150 miles i dont know its capabilites.

He dyno'd it and i must get the print out to see what was what.

gotta sort the front flat out first, tubeless to make matters worse. He also put one of those things similar to the varitronic, not quite sure other than revs get changed. If anyone can explain better...

I've just setup an Imola with a JL3 curly and it's quite a difference from the Mugello/Ancilotti in my other scoot. There you have a broad range of torque and you often don't have to worry about what gear you're in. After 300 kms on the Imola I start to see that it's really high revving and you have to work the gears and throttle to get the best out of it. Good fun but not the same thing.

Ran my Imola in on the way to Scarb/Whitby. fitted with a Franspeed JL4 on a mikuni TMX30. Can tootle along at low revs but lacks pick-up. BUT as the miles racked up ...Big smiles.. a bit lke my RB has a little brother. Running rich at the moment which is OK..will lean off tomorrow. Dragging me on a S2 I was well impressed and its fun. It needs reving though but the result was it trying to lift the front quite often in 2nd
