which way up does the front bulb holder go on a series 1?

i know its an odd question but which way up does the front bulb holder go on a series 1 ?
the reason is that the lense reflector and rim have rattled apart so i want to re fix them but now they are in bits and are cant see a logical way of telling.
does the pilot light go at the top or at the bottom?
