is there any reason a scooter keeps blowing coils?
have a new build not runnung right (missing over 1/2 throttle after 5 - 10 minutes of riding)
coil was changed and was ok but after 10 minutes of riding there seemed to be a pop and engine stuttering and missing again
could it be a problem with a brand new sil stator plate?
cheers

It could well be. Can you try your new stator in a mates running scoot. If it doesn't play up then you've eliminated that item and can check your wiring to see if its earthing out anywhere or if your CDI / HT lead / plug is faulty.
If your mates now runs crap then its got to be stator related. If this is the case I would check these in this order - solder joints, esp a possible loose earth tag, dodgy pick up (swap with BGM unit) or the LT coil is breaking down under heat (replace with new item)
Hope that helps
Ian

I've found that SIL stators are very good if all parts are replaced with ones of decent quality.
Seriously though, replace the trigger/sensor and rewire and solder the SIL unit to be sure it is working correctly. Seems like a bit of work but you'll have a unit you can trust.

ive got a serviced sil one that beedspeed did 4 me which i will try
the other option is to buy a 120watt bgm one
ran it again today - ran fine pottering around town for 10 minutes then when i tried to open it up a touch it intermittantly cuts out when i try and go over 1/2 throttle revs with an open throttle
feels like the jetex/fuel starvation but suppose a dodgy stator could do the same?
cheers

ps i changed the ngk plug for another one - will also try and get a champion one n3 type?

This sounds like the exact same problem I'm having. Did all the usual simple checks like plug, HT lead & cap, loose connections, green wire CDI, carb banjo filter, etc, etc but it was still the missing and not clearing out. It also seemed ok after being left parked up for a while and restarted, but after 5 mins riding it was back again and got worse when given anything above 1/4 throttle. I've been informed it's the electronic pick up on the stator plate which is on it's way out. Hope it is as it's a relatively easy job to replace once flywheel is removed. Hope yours proves to be something simple too.

good old indian quality - the original one must have lasted at least 30 miles before giving up the ghost
